Like sandstorm goggles

Clairvoyant in the chaos

You bring dreams to life

Mark. I’m ruined for any future productions, because I’ve had you to guide me through shoots in goat markets, Bedouin tents, Icelandic rainstorms, and on cliffsides. Thanks for pushing us to try the impossible and for your persistence to make it happen. Your can-do mentality, technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and ability to operate on zero sleep are legendary. Shukran for everything so far.

Much love, Marguerite

Dear Omani Mark, the production maestro. Thank you for being the rock of every production. Stoic, assertive, kind, and always about the creative. One of the most epic memories I have of you is in Snake gorge: you lost your boots, rocked sandals in 100 degree temperature, burned your feet to the core, and you trekked on for the next 12+ days. A super typhoon in Tokyo - yakuzas, geishas, and endless ramen. Skeet shooting in Mexico City markets, and an epic bike ride back to the Pantheon after a home victory in Rome. The most epic drone flying skills in the Alps of Italy. An absolute Legend.

The most legendary producer I’ve had the chance to work with. Thank you for your unwavering support and guidance during Airbnb’s most wild productions yet. You’ve been a constant source of knowledge and calm and an incredible partner to learn from. But more than that, you blazed a trail for us to create new types of content and think about productions in a new way. During our time together, we’ve endured some serious swirl, creative budgeting, natural disasters, insane hosts, epic adventures, and so much more. I look forward to the day we can go on set together and create something amazing.
– Aly
One of a kind. I’ve learned so much from you in these past few weeks when we worked together on what were supposed to be the product shoots. I was out of my element, but between you and Aly I knew we’d still succeed - and we would have if it weren’t for a global pandemic! That’s pretty much the only thing that could stop (or pause) someone with your resourcefulness and expertise. Your placid demeanor masks the fact that you’re already 3 steps ahead solving things and flipping through your mental rolodex. I wish we’d gotten to spend more time with you in the office, but I know that you’re happiest in the field. You’re someone who approaches projects thinking, “wouldn’t it be cool if we... ?” and it shows in the work. Thank you for being such a muscle on our team and I hope we’ll work together again.
– Aubrey
Mark! Production KING! I can’t believe we have never been on a production together but from the sounds (and sniff) of it, it sounds like a blast. It was so helpful having someone with your skill and background, build out the experiences production-machine to what it is today! You have conquered things in days that would normally take any other producer months/years! I hope one day we can be in some random location looking back at what a truly strange time this was. Until then cheers my friend!
– Tomo
Fucking hell, Mark. What are we going to do without you? Hard to believe how much time we spent talking production only to fly in completely different directions every time. But despite that, I still learned so much from you and so appreciate every massive thing you’ve done for this team and the work we put out there. We will work together again, one day, I know it, and when we do, we’re gonna get out there in the world and make something great together. Until then, stay in touch.
– Michael
You guys were in Iceland chasing the foxes and I really panicked when I heard you were camping outside to be able to see them. It was rainy, wild and super cold and I was feeling so guilty that I was not there with the team to help and make decisions. I texted you and told you to pull the plug if needed, to stay safe and dry. Your answer gave me a rush of excitement and just proved how much you believe in the team and in what we do. It was clear that the team was in great hands and for that I’m so grateful. “Not even close to giving up on the foxes” has become a little of a mantra for me. Thanks Mark for bringing to us a level of badassery and tenacity that is rare and much appreciated. I truly hope we get to embark in a crazy production together again!
– Ximena
Mark the master
always up for the adventure smart as a fox cooking up solutions treats us like family. We will miss you.
Until next time,
– Alex A
Mark - It was great working with you over the last year. Your can do spirit and eternal smile were a joy to be around. I hope our paths will cross again soon.
– Jan
Mark – the legend. We have all learned so much from you
in our time together. It feels like forever ago but also like yesterday when we first met in that conference room at 999. You jumped right in 100%, in true Mark fashion, and have pulled off the impossible many times over. I am in awe of what you were/are capable of and your boundless energy and enthusiasm for production. It is inspiring and so motivating. Anything that was thrown at you, you would find a solution for. You are a true collaborator, a friend, and a mentor to us all. Thank you for everything! Looking forward to working with you again soon!
– Chris
Mark my Swedish brother. You’ve been Max and mines third half since day 1. Thank you for never getting tired of answering our dumb questions and thank you for always fighting for us. Never
met anyone with your drive and passion, and will never forget our late night zoom-music mishap. Still to this day the funniest thing ever. I know I’ll see you extremely soon my friend.
– Sam
Mark! The swedish superman! When I first started at Airbnb I learned very quickly that there is nothing that can’t be solved when Mark is around. Everything will eventually work out in favor of the creative thanks to your brilliant mind. It’s been such an inspiration to work with you, you bring so much joy and I’m so happy that I got to know you!
– Max
What do I say that hasn’t already been said? Legend! Gem! Honeybadger! I can’t imagine what production looks like without you. It’s true: my career at Airbnb is ruined without you a phone call away for guidance. Ever since your arrival, we fell into an easy partnership that I have appreciated. You with your persistence and “fuck it” attitude and boat skills, me with my spreadsheets and SOWs. It actually WORKED, time and again. From Oman to Ft. Lauderdale to every complicated music license negotiation in history, we made it work. And through it all, I learned SO much. Every time I asked “why?” you asked “why not?” You’ve been patient, and kind, and willing to have a beer together in the middle of an impending hurricane, and for that I will always admire you. Please come back to us soon, and until then, enjoy the ride.

Mark, I hope you know what a huge impact you’ve had on this team. Such a positive attitude and you’ve helped us bring all our ideas to life no matter what timeline or obstacles get thrown at us. I’ve also more than once during stressful times told myself to “channel Mark’s energy” to try to stay calm and focused. Very excited to see what your next adventure will be!
